On this day in 1884, Mark Twain’s Adventures of Huckleberry Finn was published for the first time (though in England; it wouldn’t be published in the US until 1885). It is considered (by Wikipedia) the second Great American Novel, after Moby-Dick, and along with Moby-Dick, one of only two published in the 19th century.
